As well as being a governor I regularly come into school as a volunteer and I thought parents would be interested in some of the ways volunteers support the school.
Every other Monday morning goes with a splash when accompanying Class 1 and 2 to Wolsingham Pool to swim. Since the beginning of the school year the children have taken part in swimming activities, confidence grows and great progress is made by all.
When I am not swimming on Mondays I can be found in class supporting literacy/maths.
As part of their history lesson I was asked to talk to the children about ‘when I was young’. With photographs and toys retrieved from the attic, I launched forth with tales of long ago. The children enjoyed the experience, sharing their thoughts and memories and amazed that Mrs Swindale was once a little girl!
It is a privilege and special to be part of the school for a little while.
Thank you children,
