In this section you will find details of our activities:
Week commencing 07.10.19
All of class 1 made autumn wallpaper in the style of William Morris. They used leaves and printers to make the wallpaper and used autumn colours
Reception and year 1 have been learning about 3D shapes. Measuring themselves with blocks and making rocket boats and robots out of 3D shapes.
They all also learned about different fruits after reading ‘Handas surprise’. Year 1&2 wrote about fruits in the story practicing using adjectives and reception drew a fruit basket.
They also took part in the first workshop for whispering woods learning about different animals, their habitats and how to protect animals in our changing world.
Week commencing 30.09.19
Class 1 were practicing printing using sponges and paints to make stories about shapes.
We were also learning about the 5 senses and played a game where they had to describe what they could feel in the bag so everyone could guess. They also played blind mans buff trying to guess who they were feeling.
Reception and year 1 were experimenting with instruments to learn about sounds, how to change them and how to describe them.
Class 1 children have been reading the Shape Trilogy books by Mac Barnett and Jon Klassen. They created a new story for the shapes by printing a picture with sponges and dark colours like the books and wrote up their stories which have been typed out for them.
Week Commencing 23.09.19
Reception have been using be bots to practice going along a number line in the hall. They also made porridge so we could share it out between 3 bowls and see how the quantity changes. The whole class had a visit from baby Joseph so we could understand how to look after a baby. They watched him have a bath and get dressed then asked lots of questions like ‘how often do you feed him?’ ‘whats his favourite toy?’.
Class 1 tried lots of new fruits to see what they like and dislike and give an opinion on it. They tried: Sharron fruit, lychee, papaya, kiwi fruit and passion fruit. There were mixed lots of mixed opinions. Iona liked them all but Jamie didn’t like any of them.
We have been practicing counting up to 20 using cubes and bowling. They both really enjoyed the bowling and were counting how many they had knocked down and how many they had left.
With the clay they were learning about themselves and were asked to make themselves. Xander decided to make a ‘pizzeria’ instead and Charlie made himself.
