Design & Technology

This term, the children of Class 2 have been designing and creating their own play parks. The children started off planning their designs on paper before making them 3D. To add a fun elemental design, children have worked in small groups to make a moving playground ride. Small groups had to work together to assemble their rides, with use of a small electrical circuit. Though this task was challenging, all groups succeeded in creating a moving ride.

Carved Stone Balls

Class 2 have recently taken inspiration from the carved stone balls found in Skara Brae, Orkney, thought to be made in the late Neolithic period. As a result, Class 2 have made their own carved stone balls, adding intricate detail, followed by writing a description of them in their English books. For this Class 2 needed to use their imagination and suggest what the carved stone balls could have been or what they may have been used for. This also fits with the history work that Class 2 have been doing regarding the Neolithic period.
