September 2018 – July 2019
Pupils from Class 1 and Class 2 were asked to design a poster stating why they would be like to become a councilor. Pupils used this information to vote.

Week ending 14th December 2018
Food Bank
On Thursday 13th December 2018, John-Robert and Ewan delivered all of the kind donations of food and toiletries to the food bank at Woodhouse Close Community Church on behalf of the School Council. Volunteers at the church are extremely grateful for everyone’s donations at Hamsterley Primary School, and say a great big THANK YOU and MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Please can you pass on our thanks to the children who donated toys for children in need this Christmas, we are very grateful.
Thank you to Mrs. Walker for bringing two of your members to deliver the toys.
With lots of other donations, we have been able to give toys to 110 children so far.

Week ending 7th December 2018
During the meeting this week the school council discussed the food bank and produced a poster advertising the collection.
Christine Jayne and Lily produced the list of activities children would like to do on Christmas Jumper Day, these were given to Mrs Stephens to organise.

On behalf of the School Council, Ava and Bella went along to Woodhouse Close Church and Community Centre to donate the toys kindly brought in by children of Hamsterley Primary School. The church is extremely grateful for this donation!

School Council produced a list of songs, food and games that the children would like at the Friends of the School Christmas Party.

Ava Sm and Bella produced a poster for the Toy Appeal for Woodhouse Close Church Project.
This week the school council held their first meeting. Here we see a year 2 pupil taking her role very seriously, researching what activities her peers would like to do on the Christmas Jumper day.
September 2017 – July 2018
29.03.17 – SNAG (School Nutrition Action Group) formed.
Children from the school council and selected other children formed a School Nutrition Action Group. They met with Janice and with representatives from Taylor Shaw to discuss school dinners. They came up with a number of ideas to help keep our school dinners nutritious and interesting.
21.03.17 – Guide Dogs Charity
We have been raising money over the past couple of years for the Guide Dogs Charity – we have to date raised £127.50, thank you to everyone who contributed and to the school council for arranging the collection for this charity. Rose and Charlie, members of the school council, pictured below with Freddie, one of the guide dogs!
On Monday 26th September 2016 we had our school council election. This follows two weeks of campaigning on behalf of the candidates.
